Cyberpunk 2077, or CP2077 as I lovingly called it, is the most anticipated game in the industry right now. Well CDPR, (the devs behind the game) hosted its financial conference call for investors and analysts and the executive team talked about Cyberpunk 2077 and more.

CP2077 Delayed On Stadia

On Stadia, Google’s recently launched game streaming service, CDPR confirmed that CP2077 will be full price on Stadia, and will not be part of the PRO subscription program at least at the start. More importantly, CDPR also confirmed that CP2077 will be launching after the release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Plans For PS5 and Xbox Scarlett and VR

As for the next-gen consoles, all but confirmed to release next year, CDPR was much less straightforward. In a quote, the company said:

“Of course, we do have insights on what’s around the corner and what’s happening with PlayStation and Xbox. We’re watching it closely and one may probably assume that at some point we’re gonna do something with the next-gen. However, we cannot really be very specific about what that might be, when exactly that might be. I will only safely assume that it’s not gonna be around the launch timeframe of those consoles.”

What that essentially means that while CDPR is following the development of Xbox Scarlett and PS5, they have no plans to release CP2077 on the next-gen console, at least not on its release. So if you were planning to wait to play CP2077 on the latest and greatest, you might have to wait a bit.

The same goes for VR. When asked if the company is looking to expand into VR, like Half Life Alyx, CDPR impressed that the VR market is very niche at this point.

“VR is a very, very, very, and I could add a few verys here, small.”

Microtransactions In Multiplayer

Its been an open secret for a while, that CDPR are also working on a multiplayer mode for CP2077. Well at the conference, CDPR said that they are considering various methods of generating revenue from the multiplayer mode, and microtransactions might be one of them.

“The Studio is experimenting and checking different options and possibilities.”

That being said, asked about monetization, the executives clarified that we can expect that CD Projekt won’t change its general policies towards gamers. This means that we can expect “wise” monetization and “always value for money.”

So there you go folks, no CP2077 in VR or on the PS5, Xbox Scarlett (at least at launch). Possible microtransactions in multiplayer. And finally no special pricing and delayed-release for Stadia. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments.
